Wild & Free 2022

Wild & Free 2022

WILD & FREE 2022 Friends of the Arts Inclusive Resource (FAIR) in partnership with Act Belong Commit and Heart Place present Wild & Free 2022: an interactive and static art exhibition at the Fibonacci Centre Fremantle (Fib) for Mental Health Week 8-15 October.

Twenty five artists, including local, lead artist, Julianne Wade, will showcase 100 pieces of original, quality art which celebrates the freedom of Western Australians and the positive effect practicing art has on mental health, especially in light of current world events.

It's FAIR's third and final fiesta at the Fib. FAIR is the team who successfully brought you Reflections on Resilience 2021 and Kindness Emerging in 2020. This year’s innovations include an interactive flow workshop for youth to learn poi and a mindfulness workshop presented by Heart Place.

The exhibition will launch on the start of WA Mental Health Week, 8 October, with an extravagant Opening Night Gala with a 'Moulin Rouge' theme. Think burlesque dancers, silk acrobatics, live painting, an elephant in the room and a special acoustic set by local super star Carla Geneve. Freya from Feasts of Featherhorn will be serving grazing platters and this 18+ only event includes an open bar. Tickets will launch 1 August at only $15. Come dressed in your finest burlesque inspired costume and go wild!

On Sunday 9 October a special quiet event; the All-Abilities Arts Appreciation Afternoon will include face painting and a secret special super star. Tickets are only $15 & companion cards are accepted.

The ever-popular Artists Talks returns; an elegant affair where the 25 artists are invited to share about their pieces and their journey to create them. Catering includes a vegetarian frittata cooked on site by local chef, Freya; paired with a wine tasting and entertainment by Cansu on the Santoor. Entry is free.

The exciting new Flow workshop, aimed at youths aged 12-25, will showcase a how-to workshop using poi and staff. Guests will go home with a gift from FAIR; their own practice staff or poi. Entertainment by dancer with a difference, Vixen. A truly wild way to TGIF! Tickets $15. Free woodfired pizza and kumboocha.

The Closing Sundowner on 15 October will provide a safe space for young adults and the young at heart to talk about their mental health journey in an environment that celebrates local arts and creatives. Entry is free. Refreshments available.

From the delicious vegetarian menu to the amazing performing artists, the workshops, artist’s talks, secret superstar artistes and musicians, the closing sundowner and the exhibition itself; there will be something for everyone!

This is a public event open to the whole community.
