2021 Sponsorship

Mental Health Week is a national week celebrated each year in October around World Mental Health Day on October 10. This year, Mental Health Week runs 9-16 October 2021 and will focus on the theme: Mental health starts with our children.

WA's biggest mental health promotion week aims to raise awareness about how to maintain and protect our mental wellbeing and de-stigmatise mental health challenges. WA's Mental Health Week has been coordinated by the Western Australian Association for Mental Health for more than 50 years, and is supported by the Government of Western Australia, Mental Health Commission.

Mental Health Starts with our Children – live, learn, work, play

This year we are making children the focus of Mental Health Week. It takes a village to raise a child and evidence shows early childhood experiences are a crucial foundation in shaping behaviours, resilience, emotional regulation and relationships throughout our whole lives. Focus streams include:

  • Childhood trauma and understanding the impact it has on brain development
  • Working with children – schools, play group, coaches, scouts, community groups
  • Positive parenting, care-giving & family interactions, activities and managing behaviour
  • Addressing misunderstandings - how adults trait can be shaped by early childhood foundations

We can’t afford to overlook the mental health of our children in our families and wider community. The foundations we lay today will impact the society we have in the future. To build supportive communities, we must take a holistic look at mental health, sharing ideas, and learning. Recent pandemic events have brought the social determinants of mental health into sharp focus and the importance of safeguarding environmental and social factors for children is crucial.

By partnering with MHW, extensive profiling opportunities are on offer to strengthen your organisation’s brand alignment with the importance of protecting our mental health. We will work with you to ensure all partnership benefits are delivered and ensure your organisation achieves targeted and far reaching exposure in the WA community. Promotional material will be distributed via a number of channels in the lead up to, and during, Mental Health Week, ensuring maximum exposure of our partners in support of this important cause.
